CASINO MOVIES

Movies are an integral part of the media. It acts as a very good promoter of what it is based on. Added are the glitz and glamour factor to it, which makes it the most popular and best method of presenting something to the masses. There have been many movies centered on casinos and betting. Most of them have done huge at the box office and have become very popular.
Below are the best casino movies ever made:
1. CASINO (1995)
(Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Sharon Stone)
This is a brutal gangster story plotted around Las Vegas. Martin Scorsese’s movie is based on true events around a Las Vegas strip hotel. This is the story about how the mafia built the city and what happens when they start losing control of it.
Sam “Ace” Rothstein (DeNiro) and Nicky Santaro (Pesci) make it to Vegas in order to turn around the business at the Tangiers Casino. Ace’s wife, Ginger (Stone,) turns to Nicky when she finds herself dissatisfied with her marriage to Ace. The eternal triangle situation is getting out of hand, and at the same time the mafia is losing control over Las Vegas.
Tangiers Casino never existed, but the story revolves around the history of the Stardust Casino. However, many of the scenes were shot at Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
2. OCEAN’S 11(2001)
(George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia)
This remake of the classic Rat Pack comedy from the 1960s is as much an action movie as a comedy. Eleven professional criminals are caught for a heist against a bank with $150 million in the vault – All of it from three major Las Vegas casinos (Bellagio, Mirage and MGM Grand.) These casinos are owned by Terry Benedict (Garcia) who’s dating Tess (Roberts), the Ocean 11 leader Dan’s (Clooney) old girlfriend. This makes the whole operation even more personal.
Ocean’s 11 is an action thriller, and just as in the original, it contains some great acting performances from the Hollywood elite of its time.
3. THE COOLER(2003)
(William H. Macy, Maria Bello, Alec Baldwin)
Bernie (Macy) is what seems to be a bona fide looser. He works for the casino manager (Baldwin) who takes advantage of Bernie’s ability to change the luck for hot-streak gamblers at the casino. When Bernie meets the waiter Natalie (Bello) his life changes for the better.
Baldwin’s character is willing to go a long way to keep Bernie and his special skills at the casino.
4. CROUPIER(1998)
(Clive Owen)
This is an unusual portrait of the casino world. At least the part we are used to see on the big screens. Director Mike Hodge has created a story told from the dealer’s perspective. In contrast to many other casino movies, this story takes place in London, far away from the flashy Las Vegas neon strip. A cold and rough gambling world is presented to the audience, and the luxurious world of a high roller casino seems far, far away.
5. CASINO ROYALE(2006)
(Daniel Craig, John Cleese, Judi Dench, Mads Mikkelsen)
Le Cheriffe (Mikkelsen,) a bank professional with a connections to terrorist and also an excellent poker player, is trying to win a high-stakes poker tournament in order to pay back money he owes to terrorists. But at the table, a certain Mr. Bond (Craig) is doing everything in his power to stop this from happening.
Bond learns the hard lesson not to trust anyone, especially at the poker table. This movie is Mr. Bond’s first mission as a 00-agent, and he has not yet earned his license to kill in the service of Her Majesty the Queen.
This is certainly not the best Bond movie, but with some great action scenes both inside and outside of the casinos.

TYPES OF CARD GAMES

Posted by admin | gambling | Thursday 25 February 2010 9:52 am

Whether on a console or the traditional board, gaming today has evolved into Play station, and Xbox, while traditional card and board games also exist. The Internet has also introduced a new platform for games, providing gamers all over with a chance to experience the thrills. While talking about card games and gambling the first thing that strikes our mind is the table with players sitting around it trying hard to win. But the essence of true gambling is in the card games.
There are different varieties of card games and each is different from the other with its own set of rules and excitement. The most popular cad games are:
1. Trick – Taking Games

The objective of this type of card games is to win the cards played in a particular round, which are known as ‘tricks’. The goal of games varies. Basically, goals involve winning the most number of tricks, or at least a particular number of tricks. Bridge, Spades, and Tarot are examples of trick – taking games.

2. Matching Games

In this game you have to get a particular set of matching cards before other players do so. In Rummy, this is achieved by taking a card from the pile, and disposing another.

3. Shedding Games

In shedding games, players start with a set of cards, and the first person to be able to discard all the cards in his hand wins. Switch, Crazy Eights are examples of this category.

4. Accumulating Games

As the name suggests in accumulating games you are to get all the cards into your hand. Beggar – My – neighbor and Slapjack are some examples

5. Fishing Games

Fishing games are a modification of matching and shedding games in the way that they ‘fish’ for cards by taking them from another player, asking them for cards, or taking them from a pile.

6. Comparing Games (Vying, Showdown)

It involves comparing the value of cards in each players hand to see who has the cards with the most value. Common examples are poker and blackjack.

7. Patience Games (Solitaire Games)

This is the only variety of card games designed by only one person. Most patience games start with a certain arrangement of cards, known as a tableau, the goal being either to make a particular design of cards (Grandfather’s Clock), or to move the cards into a ‘discard’ pile (FreeCell, Pyramid).

8. Drinking Card Games

It involves playing a card game to get a chance to drink, or to force others to drink. Most such games are normal card games, with the presence of ‘drinking’ rules. A famous example is Presidents.

9.Casino / Gambling games

The objective of these games, is to win money. Though you can make the winning of money possible in any card game, casino games are designed in a way that betting becomes an important part of it. Games like poker involve betting against other players, while games like Blackjack involve betting against the casino.

You being a starter or a pro at the table there are a wide variety of games just to suit you. You can start by the easier games that don’t require a huge amount of knowledge nor a large sum to be put at stake. Any casino visitor can afford these. Once you know there’s no stopping you as you sure would try hands at the more exciting and thrilling ones.
The easiest and most popular game is the slot machine. The slots require small amount of betting. In this game you have to pull a lever to rotate a series of reels. The reels have different pictures on them. If one can line up the pictures with the pay line, he/she wins. The amount of win will depend on the pictures that land on the pay line.
Another easy game is the roulette. Here you only have to guess which number the ball would fall on and stick to once the wheel stops spinning. If you guess right the money is yours.
Craps is a dice game where you do require a bit of knowledge of gaming rules. You can bet in a variety of ways on the dice to win. It is a very exciting game.
Apart from these there are a number of card games played at the tables, the two most popular being blackjack and poker. The main thing in blackjack is that you are to get as close to 21 as you can using your cards. If you get over 21 you are deemed loser. The one having a set of cards closest in value to 21 wins. Blackjack is played against the dealer.
Unlike blackjack, in poker, players play against each other. It requires a lot of skill and knowledge. Winning in a poker is not an easy task.
Other than games at the casino, a wide range of online games are also available. One can choose from video slots, reel slots, baccarat, craps, roulette and keno. Each has a different level of difficulty associated with it but once you start your ability goes on increasing.

If you are looking to take advantage of casino bonuses, how do you qualify? Casinos all over the internet are offering bonuses at every turn. Some bonus examples include Slot bonuses, New Sign up bonuses, Deposit Bonuses, High Roller Bonuses, Blackjack Bonuses, and so on.
Casino bonuses are in various shapes and forms. Some may be cashable, meaning that after meeting requirements, you can withdraw this money into your own checking account and others may not be cashable, which means the bonuses are for you to play with, but you cannot cash this particular money out into your own checking account.
The secret to taking advantage of bonuses offered by online casinos is to understand how they work. In general, there are no two internet casinos that are the same. In the same sense, most bonuses are different as well. For instance, deposit bonuses may be different. The amount could be different and the requirements may be different. For example, you might receive a flat deposit bonus, regardless of how much you deposit. On the other hand, you may receive a matching bonus – up to a predetermined amount.
In other casino bonuses, you may be required to wager a minimum amount before you can cash out or take advantage of the bonus. At the same time, you might have to have a certain amount within your account to play with. Each online casino has its own set of rules and regulations, which can become confusing to any new player.
Learning how to qualify for casino bonuses is easy, as long as you carefully read and understand the conditions placed upon them and have full knowledge of what it takes to get that free money, before you get started.

STAR GAMBLERS

The city of Las Vegas and its casinos have inspired filmmakers looking to inject excitement and intrigue into their movies. The most famous movie with a Las Vegas backdrop is 1960’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven’, where the members of the original ‘Rat Pack’ – Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis – plan to rob five of the top casinos in Las Vegas in a single night. Things were going accordingly planned – at least until after the heists.
‘Ocean’s Eleven’ was remade successfully in 2001 by Steven Soderburgh, with George Clooney in the leading role of Danny Ocean and Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Elliott Gould as gang members, amongst others. The 2001 version updated the storyline while still putting across the same glamorous image of Vegas as in the first movie.
Matt Damon is Mike McDermott, one of the world’s best poker players in the 1998 film ‘Rounders’, who has given up the game in order to concentrate on finishing law school. When his old friend Worm (Edward Norton) is released from prison, he persuades McDermott to return to the game in order to pay off some bad debts he’s accrued. McDermott consequently finds himself playing in a series of poker games where the stakes are forever increasing and the tension is forever building.
Finally, a list of casino movies is incomplete without a mention of the 1995 Martin Scorcese movie ‘Casino’, which is considered by many to be the definitive casino film. This tells the true story of Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein, a mobster who moves to Las Vegas and becomes the operator of the Tangiers casino. Robert De Niro makes the lead role his own, as Rothstein copes with marriage to a drug addict (played by Sharon Stone) and friendship with Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci), a fellow mobster slowly spiraling into a world of violence.

TRICK A WIN

After all you are there to win. Nobody plays to lose so it’s necessary that you have all the information, tips and tricks up your sleeve. Using simple techniques and good strategies you can have lady luck shine on you any day. Acquire the skill and the process of your becoming a smart player is on a roll.
There are a lot of games to choose from and with each are associated different strategies. If you are a starter do not get easily allured by the flashy advertisements while gambling online. Try and gather through information before starting. Casino tactics take into account mathematical formulae and probability so they may well end up winning you a game.
F ever a slot machine reads $.05 cents I does not mean that it’s the total amount you have to bet. All $.05 machines require the amount per line. Thus the maximum bet would cost you $2.50 per spin. Stick to the slot machine you can afford. Bring into the house only the amount of money you can afford to lose. Also keep your credit cards back home. Most machines’ would give you a payback of 95-98%. The way to find out a good machine is to give it a try. Often loose machines and tight machines are next to one another. Try keeping on from machine to machine.
The electric cash and liberty spin by themselves if one has the right combo. Try picking a machine having 2X or 100X reels on far right hand side. These machines pay out well. A machine paying 90% means that over a certain amount of time (8 months maybe). It surely doesn’t mean that the machine is doing badly. When you are hitting the maximum bet or single bet button that is the moment that the slot picks the numbers.
It’s better if you know any negatives of the player you are playing against. Try concealing your expressions. To make money, try your hand at easier games.
It is also important that you stop once you start losing. Since the games are addictive they can bring destruction so you should know where to stop.
